My Summer 2024 Bingo Card

This past Saturday, my weather app told me that Florida is close to reaching near-record-high temperatures. The shocking thing about this is that we are only at the start of June. While other states might be able to enjoy being out of school, my sister Jasmine and I are feeling like slugs. And that isn’t from the heat alone.

“Kristi, did you like having a job because it gave you something to do?” Jasmine asked me in the car the other day.

“I think that’s part of it. The other part is that having a job funds my ability to live my life, so there is also that,” is how I had answered. I was trying to be very transparent with her on how I was thinking about the answer I gave her.

Reflecting on it, I think she was trying to get at something deeper than that. While the Florida heat made us feel like sweaty slugs, going to school also gave her a sense of purpose and structure for her days. You can only do what you want for so long before you start to feel a little lost.

So Jasmine came up with the idea to make summer bucket lists to try and reduce our feelings of sluggishness. This was an appealing idea to me, but I also didn’t want to be driven by a list. If I did a list, I would feel like I needed to complete the entire thing (blame it on the achiever in me). I remembered my friend Dani mentioning that they make a bingo card at the beginning of the year instead of resolutions, so I decided to adopt that for my summer instead.

Here, I am going to share my bingo card in list form, and then share what the card looks like by the end. Maybe this will inspire you to pick and choose some memories you want to create this summer as well.

I have no drawing ability, but I thought it would be fun to use stickers and to draw this out by hand. I am actually fairly proud of how it turned out, considering that fact.
